Pentland United remain top of the league with five star victory over John O'Groats

Pentland United remain at the top of the Caithness First Division by three points as they defeated John O’Groats 5-1 at Ham Park.

Conor Cormack scored twice with Cameron Montgomery, Allan Munro and Owen Bain also finding the net for Pentland United.

Lewis McKechnie scored for John O’Groats to deny the hosts a clean sheet.

Wick Groats remain on their tails in second place with a game in hand after they thrashed Wick Thistle 5-0.

Korbyn Cameron scored twice with Stewart Atkins, John Budge and Jonah Martens all finding the net in an easy victory.

Staxigoe United picked up three points as they defeated Castletown 3-1 at Upper Bignold.

Stax claimed victory thanks to goals coming from Bryan Reid, Martin Banks and Darren Sheppard.

Thurso Acks’ relegation worries continued as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to High Ormlie Hotspurs.

In Division Two, leaders Lybster suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at Keiss.

Tony Miller put Keiss in front but Bobby Gunn levelled before Miller scored the winner.

They remain two points ahead of Thurso Swifts who beat Top Joe’s 5-0.

Watten beat pointless Thurso Pentland – who have lost every league match this season – 5-3.
