THERE were goals galore in the last 16 of the David Allan Shield with High Ormlie Hotspur on cloud nine after a thumping win against Top Joes.

Spurs were too hot handle as they racked up a 9-1 thrashing of their fellow Division Two opponents.

Doing the damage for High Ormlie were Marc Keith (3), Euan Munro (2), Ian Ross, Liam Dykes, John Barclay and Gordon Clark. Top Joes’ consolation came via Derek Campbell.

Elsewhere, Lybster needed penalties to put out home side Halkirk, while recent Eain MacIntosh Cup winners Wick Groats continued their good form with a 6-0 victory at John O’Groats. Grant MacNab (2), Jack Henry, Graham MacNab (2) and Sandy Sutherland were all on target for Kevin Anderson’s side.

Thurso Swifts won an extra-time thriller at Staxigoe United. The game was 1-1 after 90 minutes with the home side on target via an own goal, with Swifts’ Darren Malcolm on target.

Malcolm hit a second in extra time with Colin Sinclair also on the mark for Staxigoe. However, goals from Elder and Aaron Wilson sealed Swifts’ win.

Division Two leaders Castletown are through to the last eight as they beat Thurso Pentland 3-2.

Chris Sutherland, Connor Macintosh and Jordan McKechnie netted for Castletown, with Pentland’s goals coming via Brandon Macleod and Scott Ross.

The draw for the quarter-finals is: Keiss v Thurso Acks; Pentland United v Lybster; High Ormlie Hotspur v Castletown; Thurso Swifts v Wick Groats.
