Round two of the Caithness Autocross Club season saw a thrilling battle for fastest time of the day.

Top spot was again claimed by Gary Elder in a time of 1.54.84 at the Towerhill track – but he faced tough competition from Gary Buchan, with only a fraction of a second separating them.

Buchan ultimately had to settle for second fastest in 1.55.68. Both were driving Mini specials.

The event on May 16 saw some fantastic racing, with 39 competitors taking part. Twelve of those were juniors and all demonstrated great enthusiasm for the sport.

Third fastest time of the day was set by Jake Anderson in the MG Honda (2.05.87).

Other class winners, along with Elder and Anderson, were Ryan Henderson, Nicola Donn, Angus Manson, Ben Swanson, Sarah Donn, Olly Scott, Ronald Gunn, Johnny Omand, Shirley Omand and Liam Mackay.

The third event of the season is scheduled for June 6, with the venue still to be decided.
