Ben Sinclair hit a hat-trick as Wick Academy U17s began the defence of their league title with a 6-1 victory over Lossiemouth.

Sinclair opened the scoring in the ninth minute from the penalty spot after Ewan Macgregor had been upended by keeper Rian Wilson. Aaron Wilson doubled the young Scorries’ lead after 23 minutes when his shot from the right-hand corner of the 18-yard box squirmed over the line.

Callum Kerrigan reduced the deficit three minutes into the second half when his shot-cum-cross deceived the Wick keeper.

Sinclair restored the Scorries’ two-goal cushion in the 55th minute when, after driving downfield, he unleashed a shot from 15 yards. Three minutes later Mark Macadie made it 4-1, his right-foot shot giving the diving Rian Wilson no chance.

Sinclair completed his treble with a spot-kick in the 70th minute. Travis Lawrence wrapped up the scoring when he lobbed Wilson from the 18-yard line.
