Scorries slay Spartans in Scottish Cup
Scorers - Wick: G. Steven (43), Geruzel (44).
Wick Academy shot to the second round of the Scottish Cup today with a win over Edinburgh's Spartans FC.
The Scorries spent the first 20 minutes getting used to the artificial pitch before getting down to business.
Both sides had long range attempts at goal in the first half but to no success.
However it all changed in the space of a minute.

With two minutes left until half time Sam Mackay's header from a corner was cleared but the ball fell to Grant Steven.
Steven hammered the ball into the top of the net to give Academy their first goal.
A minute later the Scorries doubled their lead.
Breaking into the box Mackay slid the ball to Lukasz Geruzel and the Polish striker knocked it into the bottom left of the net from close range just in time for the break.
In the second half Academy almost had another goal to celebrate.
Davie Allan swooped past the Spartans defence and fired the ball towards the net.
But keeper Chris Flockhart dived and with one hand palmed the ball round the post to safety.
Flockhart showed his metal again seven minutes from full time with another great save from a Richard Macadie free kick.
Straight after Spartans mounted their own attack and Michael Gray got to show his talent between the Academy sticks -catching Donal Henretty's shot on the line.
Academy marched on through extra time and held the advantage -going onto the second round with a clean sheet and a 2-0 win under their belts.
