CAITHNESS shooter Sarah Henderson hit her target of qualifying for the Commonwealth Games after being named in the Scottish team for Glasgow 2014.

The announcement was made at Stirling Castle on Thursday when she was confirmed among the 16-strong squad to compete on the rifle range in July.

Having recently won the British 50-metre prone rifle championship last month, the Watten athlete has been named as one of the favourites to win gold in the event.

She will be one of three athletes from Caithness who will represent Scotland at the Commonwealth Games this year, along with cyclists Evan Oliphant from Milton and John Paul who is originally from Lybster.
