In the fourth week of action in Wick and District Darts League, Seaview completed their fourth win by the same 7-1 scoreline – versus Park, Castletown, Queen’s and now Queen’s “2”.

Their captain, Kevin Macgregor, was their anchor in this latest first division victory, winning his singles against Jocky Plowman in 17, 16 and 16 darts (3-0). This was an average of 30.67 per dart.

Across the road at the Seaforth club Ronnie Plowman, John Macphee, David Bain and Ryan Campbell each hit a maximum for the home side against Queen’s. Rab Edwards and Hughie Duncan also achieved the much-sought-after score.

Castletown got their first point as they met Smiddy Inn. Best game in this tie was a rare defeat for veteran Geordie Bain, just losing out to Smiddy’s Richard Thain (2-3). Thain remains unbeaten in the singles.

David Taylor was top man for Harper’s “B” in their trip to Thurso, although the reigning champions don’t seem to be firing on all cylinders at the moment.

In the second division there was a cracker as table-topping Harper’s were in Thrumster to play the fancied Smiddy “3” side. This one ended all square.

Liam Miller’s Smiddy “2” are just behind, awaiting any slip-ups. Martin Campbell seems to be the rock in their team at present.

Norseman had another away fixture but just across the road as they soundly beat Harper’s “C”.

Willie Maclean, Salius Kazakauskas, Ducker Harper and Sandy Mackay all played their part. Willie Webster was best for the home side.

Results – Men’s Division One: Seaforth 6 Queen’s 2; Park 3 Harper’s “B” 5; Castletown 4 Smiddy Inn 4; Queen’s “2” 1 Seaview 7.

Men’s Division Two: Smiddy “3” 4 Harper’s 4; Smiddy “2” 6 Comm 2; Seaview “B” 7 Smiddy “4” 1; Harper’s “C” 1 Norseman 7.

Maximums (8): David Bain, Ronnie Plowman, Ryan Campbell, John Macphee (all Seaforth), Rab Edwards, Hughie Duncan (both Queen’s), Calum Shearer (Seaview) and Kevin Donald (Queen’s “2”).

Checkouts: Michael Sinclair (Smiddy “3”) 115, David Taylor (Harper’s “B”) 108, Barry Sutherland (Castletown) 100.

The ladies were in action upstairs in the Seaforth club in the round-robin pairs. This event has to be concluded on another night.

Next week the first division’s top two go head to head in John O’Groats as Seaview take on Seaforth.
