Rosebank club hopes Top4 event will go from strength to strength
Wick’s Rosebank Bowling Club hosted its two-day Top4 competition for the second year.
A good turnout of players from all the local clubs, as well as supporters, made it an enjoyable and successful weekend in sunny conditions.
The competition was sponsored again by Achairn Energy Limited, Subsea 7 and Ashley Ann.
The last eight teams that qualified on the Saturday played on the Sunday.
An honourable mention goes to Alec Thomson’s team, Maddison Bain (Thurso BC) and Rosebank junior members Jamie Coull and Oscar Banks.
Not only did they qualify for the knockout stages but they reached the semi-final. With the three youngsters having a combined age of 36, they have a bright future in bowling.
The home team of Niall MacIntosh, Dave Coull, Graham John and skip Mark Banks reached the final against Thurso’s Donna Swanson, dad Allan Swanson, David Coghill and skip Eric Gunn.
It was a nail-biting final that came down to the last bowl and resulted in the home team picking up the trophy this year. Prize money was also presented to all semi-finalists, runners-up and winners.
Rosebank Bowling Club’s Sharon Rosie said: “The committee and organisers wish to thank everyone who took part in the competition, our own club representatives who set this all up and also our greenkeeper Paul MacKinnon at Rosebank.
“A huge thanks to our sponsors and bowlers. Without our bowlers and sponsors we would not be able to run this event and given the fantastic feedback received there is a considerable number of teams already booked for next year.
“We do hope this event will continue to go from strength to strength and look forward to doing it all again in 2026.”
