Rifle league: Wick Old Stagers stay ahead of Huntly with better aggregate

Round nine of Caithness Small Bore Rifle Association's winter league saw five shooters gaining the maximum score – S S Nicolson (Wick Old Stagers), D Mowat (Pentland) and Huntly pair W A Copland and L Thomson, all in Division One, and Halkirk's R Levack in Division Two.

Wick Old Stagers "A" are top of Division One, ahead of Huntly by virtue of a better aggregate. Pentland are in third position, a point behind, after their draw with Wick Old Stagers "B".

Watten "B" are leading the way in Division Two, with three teams on 11 points separated by aggregate only. Halkirk "B" are second and Orkney third.

Westfield moved to the top of Division Three after their victory over Lairg. The Sutherland team are now second, with Huntly "B" third.

Dingwall remain unbeaten in Division Four and have a maximum 18 points, seven points clear of Watten "C", with Stirkoke "C" one point further behind.

The juniors are having a winter break and will return with round eight on Monday, February 5.

Wick Old Stagers "B" 10 drew with Pentland "A" 10. Individual scores – Wick Old Stagers: Graeme Sutherland 1, A W Paul 1, S Nicolson 3, George Sutherland 5. Pentland: D Mowat 0, G Begg 2, R L O Brown 3, P Richard 5.

Stirkoke "C" 123 beat Pentland "C" 308. Individual scores – Stirkoke: G Hendry 6, I Gunn 7, J Cameron 10, NCR 100. Pentland: WD Mowat 8, 3 x NCR 300.

Top score in Division Four was 99 shot by B Mackintosh (Dingwall).
