Highland Council has released its festive schedule for rubbish collection dates.

Owing to the Christmas and New Year period, regular dates for collections have been amended accordingly to accommodate the holiday season.

For households in Caithness that have rubbish collections taking place on a Wednesday, as Christmas Day falls on that day of the week, collections have been brought forward to Saturday, December 21.

Collections on the Thursday – Boxing Day – will be uplifted as normal.

For Hogmanay, as New Year's Day falls on a Wednesday, if you have a rubbish collection scheduled for that day, it will be brought forward to Saturday, December 28.

If a rubbish collection uplift is pencilled in on a Thursday, then the collection on Thursday January 2 will be put back to Saturday, January 4.

For anyone wishing to bring any items for recycling, the recycling centres across the county will be closed on December 25 and 26 and also on January 1 and 2.

Highland Council's rescheduled collection dates can be found at https://www.highland.gov.uk/bindays
