Stevie Reid has resigned as Thurso manager after a mixed start to the season for the Vikings.

His decision comes just over two weeks before Thurso's Football Times Cup final against Halkirk United.

Reid (53) had intended to go at the end of the season but has instead chosen to step down seven games into the Vikings' league campaign. They are second from bottom following last weekend's 2-1 loss to Invergordon.

Reid, who led Thurso to two league titles, in 2009/10 and 2012/13, said: “I've got a lot of other things on my plate, I'm missing out on a lot of other stuff. Every week it was becoming blatantly more obvious to myself that I wasn't going to see this season out.

“It has been slowly but surely diminishing for me a bit. I wish the boys all the best."
