Rachel MacGregor gets best score of the day at Caithness Pony Club combined training

Standards were high at the local Pony Club dressage and combined training with young Rachel MacGregor and Dandy achieving the best overall score.
Six-year-old Rachel won her second walk and trot test of the day after being awarded a percentage of 72.7, and then went on to win the combined training after a clear showjumping round.
It was the first competition of the year for the Caithness branch with some very smartly turned out members and an amazing amount of talent from the up and coming young riders.
A good number of entries came forward for the event, held at the indoor school, Halkirk, and the dressage judge for the day was Terry Penna from Orkney.
The competition included the PC Barrier Animal Health Spring Festival 80cm showjumping qualifier with Kloe Streight going forward to the final at Morris Equestrian Centre, Kilmarnock, next month after coming first with her pony Rocky. Also qualifying was Liam Mackenzie and Stroma, who came second in the class.
All the dressage, showjumping and arena event qualifiers for the Spring Festival are now complete so hopefully a few of the members will make the journey south to represent Caithness on April 2-4.
It was a busy weekend for the club with Sunday set aside for some fun in the sun with another games practice and a badge day with some of the younger members achieving mini badges in Care of the Hoof and Poisonous Plants.
