Kevin Donald's Queen's “2” team have handed a lifeline to the chasing pack in the race for the 2019/20 Division One title in Wick and District Darts League after an unexpected victory in John O'Groats.

Billy Davidson (Queen's “2”) was the best of the bunch on the night against Seaview, with two ton-plus checkouts and a maximum.

Castletown lost out by the closest scoreline again, this time against Smiddy Inn. Best in this tie were Richard Thain (Smiddy) and Geordie Bain (Castletown).

Rab Edwards (Queen's) saved his team from a whitewash at the hands of Seaforth as he was the only singles winner, with a 3-0 victory over Ronny Plowman.

And the Park went home pointless after being trounced by champions Harper's “B”, who now have a possibility of retaining their title but must await more dropped points from the leaders Seaview.

In Division Two, Smiddy “3” are in the reckoning after a fine win versus Harper's. David Taylor, Alan Forbes, Michael Sinclair and Isaac Saint proved again that they are dangerous opponents.

Norseman now top the table with 18 points, followed by Harper's and Sinclair Bay on 17, with Smiddy “3” close behind.

In the Ladies' Division, Liz Ronaldson's Sinclair Bay side have just about given the Queen's the title as the Keiss team beat Seaforth. Ellie Thain was as good as anyone on the night.

Results – Ladies' Division: Sinclair Bay 6 Seaforth 2; Seaview 8 Camps 0 (walkover).

Men's Division One: Smiddy Inn 5 Castletown 3; Seaview 3 Queen's “2” 5; Harper's “B” 8 Park 0; Queen's 1 Seaforth 7.

Men's Division Two: Harper's 2 Smiddy “3” 6; Norseman 6 Harper's “C” 2; Smiddy “4” 2 Seaview “B” 6; Comm 2 Smiddy “2” 6.

The ladies' highest score recorded this week was by Ann Wells with 133 x 2.

Players are being reminded to get organised for the annual mixed pairs being held again in the Seaview Hotel, John O'Groats. A bus will be organised.
