Prizes are handed over at Caithness RDA Summer Show
Judith Miller, chairperson of the Caithness group of the Riding for the Disabled Association, welcomed everyone to the 2025 Summer Show and presentation of prizes on a dreich morning at the Halkirk indoor centre.
After the members from each ride completed a display of what they had learned during the session, trophies and rosettes were handed over.
Ponies used were Jojo and Mary, loaned by Carol Forrest and Jaicee Johnson; Max and Geordie, from Marion Bain at Achalone Activities; and Whisky, Poppy and Byron, loaned by Steph and Gina Cowe (Byron transported by Scye Southall).
Ride one – coach Coz MacPhail. Pupils were from Wick High School, and the trophies and rosettes were presented by Wick High YPI (Youth and Philanthropy Initiative) winners Kloe, Bethany, Erna and Kara.
Individual shield for happiest handler: Emily Gunn. John Gunn & Sons Perpetual Trophy for most enthusiastic: Dylan Forbes. Simpson Cup for most improved trot: Charlie Cooke.
Cup in Loving Memory of Callum Robert Miller for happiest rider: Carla Munro. Wick High School Charities Day Cup 2013 for most interactive rider: Morgan Cooke. Dr Pam McMorran Memorial Shield for most improved: Eli Wilkinson. Individual shield for bravest rider: Aden Herrick.
Ride two – coach Megan Gillon. Pupils were from Thurso High School. Trophies were presented by Donald Henderson, of Sinclair Windows, with rosettes handed over by Maggie Swanson.

Halkirk YFC Cup for bravest rider: Victoria Fryett. Christmas Show Riding Award for endeavour: Kian Davidson. Reid Trophy (Shield) for most enthusiastic: Joseph White.
Evelyn Oakton Memorial Shield for happiest rider: Adam Munro. Individual shield for most improved: Kayden Malcolm. Individual shield for independent rider: Frankie Smith.
Ride three – coach Steph Cowe. The Christy Cameron Memorial Trophy was presented by Isobel and Jackie Cameron, while trophies and rosettes were handed over by Liz Alexander.
Individual shield for best rider: Fergus Kolle. Individual shield for achievement (focusing for longer): Junior Hornsby Bain.
Christy Cameron Memorial Trophy for most improved: Rory Fraser. Individual shield for bravest rider: Daisy Southall.
The RDA branch thanked the volunteers who attend each week and all others who make a contribution.
