The Seaforth Highlanders’ Club was the venue this week for Wick and District Darts League’s annual Alice Coghill and Colin Perry memorial events, featuring men’s pairs and ladies’ singles.

Willie Plank and Kevin Donald, from Castletown Poachers, were triumphant in the men’s competition after a close fight with the Seaview pairing of Marc and Kevin Macgregor. Plank and Donald edged it 3-2.

Ryan Campbell and Jordan Oag of Smiddy “2” were losing semi-finalists. Oag hit the only maximum of the night and Campbell got his second 160 outshot of the season, giving him a total of 12-ton plus checkouts.

Steven Nicolson and David Taylor (Harper's “B”) also reached the last four.

Seaview’s Kevin Macgregor had a 105 outshot and Willie Plank a 100.

In the ladies’ competition it was Alison Tait (Seaforth ladies “B”) who was victorious against Sammie Campbell of Smiddy “4”.

Losing semi-finalists were Julie Donald and Freda Perry.

Colin Perry’s daughter Morgan Perry presented the prizes.

With the Friends of the Glass competition looming, Saulius Kazakauskas is running a round-robin event next week in the Seaforth Club.

The Friends of the Glass weekend takes place from May 3-5 at the Seaforth Club, with £7000 in prize money up for grabs. The main event is a pairs competition on the Saturday.

The competition is sponsored by Hugh Simpson (Contractors) Ltd.
