PICTURES: Prizes for young riders at Caithness RDA end-of-term presentation
Youngsters put on a display of their equestrian skills at the end-of-term session and presentation of prizes held by the Caithness group of the Riding for the Disabled Association.
Caithness RDA chairperson Judith Miller welcomed everyone to the Halkirk indoor riding centre.
Frank Stephen presented the trophies and rosettes to rides one and two. Half of the donations from his late wife Moira’s funeral were given to Caithness RDA.
Moira was one of the founder members of the group, a past chairperson and a dedicated volunteer.
Brian and Janis Scollay celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in August with family and friends. Instead of presents, donations were given to Caithness RDA.
The couple presented a cheque for £1000 to Marty Mackenzie (their grandson) and Megan Gillon, newly qualified group coach.
Brian and Janis handed over the trophies and rosettes to ride three.
Ponies were Jojo, loaned by Carol Forrest and Jaicee Johnson; Max and Geordie, from Marion Bain at Achalone Activities; Whisky and Byron, loaned by Steph and Gina Cowe; Crusty, loaned by Mey Cameron; Annie and the miniature Shetland Tarry, loaned by Megan Gillon.
Invited guests, parents, family and friends enjoyed a display by the children which included balancing a beanbag on a hat, steering in and out of cones, feeding the lion, a trot on each rein and musical statues to Halloween music. Decorations for the indoor riding centre were supplied by volunteer Heather Carberry.
