North Highland Harriers' Caithness Half Marathon went ahead on Sunday after two years lost to the pandemic.

Thirty-two runners covered the 13.1-mile distance, which is in essence a circuit of Loch Watten on country roads. It was a fine sunny day, but just cool enough to keep most runners happy.

Marnie Ker was the first female home, a great training run in preparation for the upcoming London Marathon. Carly Erridge and Erin Stoll were second and third females.

There was tight competition for the male prize, with three runners inseparable with a mile to go. Paul MacDonald of Wick pulled away to take the trophy, followed by Michael Sutherland (originally from Watten) and Euan Ramsay.

Meanwhile, the 5k run had taken place over an out-and-back course running from Watten village past the loch and up the hill to Watten Mains.

Connor Miller was the winner, with both Connor and second-placed Billy Sutherland running sub-20-minute 5ks on a tough course.

Katie Shearer was the first girl back, with Lucy Miller second girl. All the youngsters competing ran superb times.

Sunday's races were sponsored by Abbott Risk Consulting (ARC), Rembrand Timber and JB Tiles.
