WICK & District Pool League’s Rockwater Shield quarter-finals took place on Monday night with all four matches being one-sided affairs. Ryan Cook’s Blackstairs "2" side travelled to Lybster for their first leg match against The Commercial.
A weakend home team struggled to cope with their experienced opponents for whom Gordon Steven and Trevor Banks completed clearances in their singles as they helped Blackstairs to a 6-1 win.
Darren Goodwill played well to give Blackstairs "1" an early over defending champions Camps "2", but the six-times winners quickly turned the match with four wins on the bounce en route to a 6-2 win.
Last year’s beaten finalists Bayview "1" hosted Seaforth Club in their first leg match and all but booked their place in the semi with a 6-0 whitewash.
Sinclair Bay are also close to securing a semi final place. Last season Bfest pairs finalists Greg Simpson and Jordan Tait were prominent in their 6-1 win over Suzanne Carter’s Camps "1" team.
Results: Rockwater Shield quarter-finals first leg: Blackstairs "1" 2 Camps "2" 6; Bayview "1" 6 Seaforth Club 0; Camps "1" 1 Sinclair Bay 6; Commercial 1 Blackstairs "2" 6.
