Jim Macleod (5) was the winner of Thurso Golf Club's nine-hole Stableford last Thursday. Macleod birdied the ninth to return 19 points.

Innes Mitchell (3) also had 19 points but was second after countback for the last three holes. Ed Wyllie (3), Alan Coghill (4), John Morrison (6) and Harvey Cowe (6) all had 18 points.

Saturday saw the second round of the summer league played in ideal conditions.

Paul Foulkes (36) returned a massive 41 points to win by one point from Cameron Reid (23). Darren Sinclair (12) birdied the 11th and was five over par on the 15th tee.

However, a double bogey at 15 and dropped shots at 16 and 17 saw him return 39 points.

Ronnie Dunnett had birdies at the seventh and 13th to return 38 points. Innes Mitchell (7) had birdies at the seventh, eighth and 18th to also return 38 points along with Keith Dreaves who had no worse than a bogey.

Ed Wyllie (8), Brian Hutcheon (28) and Pat Valentine (12) all had 37 points, while Jocky Begg (13) , James Taylor (16), Iain Dunnett (8) and Ian MacDonald (14) had 36 points.

On Sunday Harvey Cowe (14) was the winner of the Bert Loomes memorial.

Cowe reached the turn in six over par but three of these extra shots were at the ninth.

He steadied the ship and a further five bogeys on the back nine saw him win with a nett 66.

This was one better than Graeme Henderson (7), who came back in 35, helped with a birdie at the 17th.

Tyler Gordon (18) was out in 41 and was a further five over par before becoming unstuck at the notorious 16th where he recorded a six.

He had another six at the 17th as he came home in 44 for a nett 67.

Nicky Doherty (7) played steadily and birdies at the eighth and 11th saw him out and in three over par to record a nett 68.

His playing partner Donald Sutherland (8) showed great character to recover from an 11 at the fourth as he played the other 17 holes in two over par, helped by birdies at the third and 13th to finish on nett 69.

Alan Kennedy (10) came home in three over par as he also recorded a nett 69, alongside Davie Calder (15) and Steve Spargo (8).
