A new date will have to be found for Halkirk United's North Caledonian Cup semi-final against Invergordon after the tie was postponed on Wednesday night because of a waterlogged pitch at Morrison Park.

It would have been the Easter Ross side's first outing since securing the league title on Saturday, while the Anglers were hoping to keep up the momentum after back-to-back wins and clean sheets in their last two games – a 2-0 victory over Bonar Bridge at Alness, followed by a 4-0 success at home to Clachnacuddin "A".

Ewan McElroy's men are third in the table, level on points with fourth-placed Fort with two games in hand. Fort visit Halkirk this weekend in what will be the last match of the season for the Lochaber club.

Thurso's priority is to get off the bottom of the table. The Vikings, who are three points behind Bonar Bridge with two games in hand, take on Orkney at the Dammies on Saturday.

Golspie failed to take their second chance of reaching the North Caledonian Cup semi-finals when they lost 3-2 to Loch Ness after extra time at King George V Park on Wednesday. The quarter-final had to be replayed after Loch Ness were found to have fielded an ineligible player.

Joe Anderson scored twice for Golspie but Loch Ness went through with goals from Sam Urquhart (2) and Allan Macphee.

North Caledonian League fixtures – Saturday, March 30: Clachnacuddin "A" v Bonar Bridge; Halkirk United v Fort William (1pm); St Duthus v Loch Ness; Thurso v Orkney (2.15pm).

Tuesday, April 2: Thurso v Halkirk United (8.30pm).
