WICK Academy have appointed Alan Farquhar as their new club secretary to replace Jan Robertson, who decided to step down due to personal commitments.

Farquhar has previously been in the role as well as serving the Scorries as a player in their pre-Highland League days.

Club chairman James Innes said: “Everyone at the club is delighted Alan has come back on board and will take up the post with immediate effect.

“Alan knows the role inside out from his previous time as secretary and was a very obvious choice.

“The club would like to thank Jan for all the hard work she has done over the past three years and we are delighted she remains a very active committee member.

“Jan reached her decision due to living in Elgin, which was making things tricky for her to commit as much time as she would like to the role, along with the obvious geographical issue.”

Farquhar thanked the club for giving him the opportunity to return to the club after a spell away.

He said: “It’s an honour to be given this opportunity to serve a club that means so much to me and my family.

“I promise to do my very best for Wick Academy and the fans for as long as I’m in this privileged position. I’m looking forward to the new season.”

Meanwhile, Pat Miller and Dennis Manson have also been elected to the executive committee of the club.
