Netball festivals for Caithness and Orkney schools hailed as 'great success'

S1 teams from Thurso and Wick travelled to Stromness for a netball competition against their counterparts from two Orkney secondary schools.
Eight teams took part in the event – two each from Thurso High, Wick High, Kirkwall Grammar School and Stromness Academy – and it provided the players with valuable match experience.
Wick "1" finished as runners-up to Kirkwall Grammar School "1".
Placings: 1 Kirkwall Grammar School "1"; 2 Wick "1"; 3 Stromness Academy "2"; 4eq Stromness Academy "1" and Kirkwall Grammar School "2"; 6eq Wick "2" and Thurso "1"; 8 Thurso "2".
Thurso coach Seonaid MacDonald said: "This has been the first year that Thurso High School, Wick High School, Stromness Academy and Kirkwall Grammar School have put on netball festivals for every age group.
"It has been a great success, providing lots of valuable match experience, and hopefully this will continue and grow next year."
She added: "Thurso High School would like to thank Thurso High School PTA for its support with transport which is vital in allowing pupils to be able to attend these events."
