NCL champs Halkirk face Academy in NoS cup

NORTH Caledonian League champions Halkirk United will make the trip to Harmsworth Park to face Wick Academy later this month in the North of Scotland Cup.

The first-round draw was made at lunch time today at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium in Inverness by ICT manager Terry Butcher and under-19s’ coach Duncan Shearer.

Meanwhile, Thurso have been handed a home tie against Highland League side Brora Rangers.

Last year Wick Academy missed out on picking up their first silverware since joining the Highland League when they lost in the NoS cup final 3-2 to Forres Mechanics in Brora.

The ties will be played on Wednesday, July 27.

Full draw – North section: Wick Academy v Halkirk United; Golspie Sutherland v Clachnacuddin; Thurso v Brora Rangers; bye: Inverness CT.

South section: Lossiemouth v Rothes; Fort William v Forres Mechanics; bye: Strathspey Thistle, Nairn County.
