Rogart’s bonspiel king Nigel Murray won the Ross Province’s Dr John Anderson Bonspiel.

It is the second time in three years that the trophy has crossed the Dornoch Firth Bridge.

Murray’s Rogart and Dornoch’s Iain Mackay, skip of the previous Sutherland winning rink, were in the same section as the holder from Belmaduthy, Iain Fraser. After four games of four ends, Rogart came out on top with 75 points, Dornoch 73 and the holders 70.

The destination of the trophy was decided in the final end of play between the two Sutherland clubs in round four. Rogart led 4-1. But in the fourth and final end, with Dornoch lying three shots and holding final stone, skip Mackay played his last stone a touch heavy and it ran through the house leaving the score peeled at four shots each.

Murray’s overall lead was preserved and his bonspiel form came up trumps.
