It was a well-attended event with competitors from Orkney and all over the Highlands taking part.

The 13 players from Wick Junior Badminton Club did well.

Kieran Ross reached the quarter-finals in the singles and doubles with partner Logan Mackay. Logan progressed through the group stage in the singles before being knocked out.

Brothers Craig and Paul Stewart got to the semis in the doubles and both got through the group stage in the singles.

Craig and Morven got knocked out in the mixed semi by Craig’s brother Paul and Carly Sinclair.

In the final, Carly and Paul took it to the wire but had to settle for the runner-up spot.

Ross Bain and Ross Mackay got through the group stage in the doubles but were then knocked out.

Chloe Dunnett and Carly got to the semis in the doubles. Bryony Munro and Nishtha Gupta also performed well in their singles and doubles but were knocked out in the group stages.

The younger competitors from the club – Owen Mathieson, Robbie Gunn and Ross Mackay – all won a few games in their singles and doubles and, although it was tough, they really enjoyed the experience.
