ALAN Morrison and Marina Bain made up for the previous week's disappointment when they lifted the Pairs League trophy at Thurso Bowling Club on Saturday.

With three leagues making up the draw, it was the three winners and best runner up spot that contested the final league with Allan Doull & Allan Swanson, Stephen Rollinson and Karl Patterson and Liz Rhodes and Allan Houston joining Alan and Marina. After the first two games Liz and Allan and Alan and Marina had recorded victories and set up a winner takes all final match. In a very close game Alan and Marina held a slender lead going into the last end where they managed to pick up the shot that saw them crowned champions and left Liz and Allan with the runners-up prize. Allan and Allan pipped Stephen and Karl for third place.

It was another busy week for the Thurso club in the Scottish district qualifiers. The two mixed pairs of Lynne Swanson and Alan Morrison and Lorna and Brian Cormack secured wins and will now play each other in the semi final on Sunday at the Rosebank green.

The senior players took to the green on Thursday afternoon and Cath Irons and Brian Cormack both progressed to the quarter finals of the singles but unfortunately Ricky McMahon and the Gents senior four of John Harris, Nigel Gower, Douglas Morrison and Peter Knapp both bowed out. Thursday evening saw wins for all the representatives, Brian Tewnion in the Gents singles, Alec MacKay and Alan Morrison in the Gents Pairs, Danny Hitchin, Liam MacKay, Stephen Rollinson and Henny Henderson in the Gents Rinks and finally Linda Morrison, Joan Bridge and Marina Bain in the Ladies triples.

This Saturday sees the McIntyre 2-4-2 pairs title be played for with the draw being posted on the notice board.
