Iain Miller had a clear win in the latest of Caithness Cycling Club’s weekly 10-mile time trials. He took seven seconds off his season’s best, on a cool night with a 10-15mph westerly wind when only four riders faced timekeeper John Falconer.

Alasdair Washington (86) made it his first race of the year, although “short of miles and speed”, and was well pleased to get under the 30-minute barrier. Martine Hughes continues to improve regularly and did well to take 61 seconds off her best this year and gain the maximum of six points in the Handicap League. She is now within striking distance of leader Gary Angus.
