DONALD McPhee has made history by becoming Scotland’s first bare-knuckle boxing champion after a stunning fourth round victory on Saturday.

The 40-year-old fighter, who turned professional in 2014 defeated, Billy Burton from Edinburgh to pick up the UBBAD Scottish Championship belt in Nottingham.

Despite being knocked down twice in the early round, McPhee managed to recover before his power proved too much for his opponent to handle which led to Burton’s trainer throwing in the towel.

Recovering at home in Castletown, McPhee, who last year became recognised as the first legal bare-knuckle boxer from Scotland in 140 years, said it was the proudest moment of his career so far.

He said: ”It is still sinking in that I’m the Scottish champion.”
