WICK boss Tom McKenna praised the character of his Scorries after a late comeback from 2-0 down earned them a 2-2 draw.

He insisted that his team showed great patience and determination to haul themselves off the floor and while they didn’t get all three points, it could have been a lot worse.

He said: “We were starting to think that nothing was going our way. We absolutely battered them with nothing to show for it.

“Then we got the penalty – I couldn’t tell you if it was in or outside the box. We get a goal back and another soon followed. Clach pressed us well in the first half. We had to be patient because you can only press at a high tempo for so long.

“The lads showed a lot of character, because at 2-0 down, it would have been easy for their heads to drop but they just kept on going.”

Clach boss Iain Polwarth rued his side’s bad luck after losing a commanding lead.

He said: “I was disappointed with the penalty. It says a lot when they haven’t claimed for it and the linesman hasn’t given it.

"A penalty and an own goal is difficult to take but I can’t fault the lads with their performance.”
