GARY Manson's sensational strike proved to be the difference as Wick Academy's resurgence continues as they beat Formartine United in a five goal thriller at Harmsworth Park.
The Scorries did have to come from behind twice with two penalties but did produce neat passing ball which has been missing for months to deservedly win the game.
Steven Anderson nearly gave Wick the lead in the opening minutes when he saw his shot crash off the crossbar.
But the visitors went in front in the seventh minute when Graeme Rodger was unchallenged in the six yard box to fire home Kieran Lawrence's cross.
But Wick levelled 11 minutes later when they were awarded a penalty when Jeven Anderson hauled down Gordon McNab in the box. Richard Macadie kept his cool to fire past Ewen Macdonald.
The visitors regained the lead just before half time when Andrew Hardwick was guilty of fouling Rodger at the edge of the box. Scott Barbour then curled a great free kick around the wall and out of the reach of Sean McCarthy to make it 2-1.
Academy battled hard in the second half and were awarded a controversial penalty when Marc Macgregor's powerful shot clattered against the hand of Stuart Anderson.
Referee Dan McFarlane deemed it a deliberate handball as the Formartine players protested furiously that due to the power of the shot and how close Anderson was to Macgregor he had no chance of getting out of the way.
Macadie made no mistake from 12 yards to fire past Macdonald to make it 2-2.
Formartine were then reduced to ten men when Jamie Michie was sent off after picking up a second yellow card for handball.
Academy made their man advantage count with seven minutes left on the clock.
Gary Manson played a neat one two with McNab to cut open the Formartine defence and the full back unleashed a thunderous shot which rocketed into the top left corner to give the hosts all three points.
