The Yellows are celebrating their first ever title success after clinching Caledonia North Division Three on Saturday.

Outside centre Craig Cannop ran in seven tries in their runaway 75-14 victory over Fraserburgh on Saturday meaning the Caithness second string finished top of the division — two points ahead of runners-up Dyce.

The depleted north-east side were loaned several players for the match at Millbank which attracted a sizeable touchline crowd.

Caithness coach Cameron Boyd said the success is rich reward for the efforts of the Seconds over the course of a protracted season.

He said: "There's been a lot of games postponed and called off so it was a nice way to round off the season on the main pitch with the sunshine and a big crowd.

"The guys played a pretty fast game that was good to watch."

Boyd added: "Fair play to Fraserburgh for coming with nine and to our guys that turned out for them to get the game played."

The coach said Cannop was a stick-on choice for player of the match.

"It's pretty rare to see a player score seven tries in one game and that was excellent to watch."

Dyce defeated Skye 57-28 in the other match to jump above Turriff to finish second.

The Yellows are now awaiting the outcome of Scottish Rugby's latest restructuring to find out which league in which they will be competing next season.
