Reay hosted the first meeting of the Caithness and Sutherland Seniors Golf Society of the 2021 season, and 60 players from clubs all across the north braved the cool and windy conditions to compete.

Sinclair Macdonald (Wick Golf Club) adapted best to the conditions to top the standings on countback on a score of 35 Stableford points. His winning score was made up of matching halves of 42 and included a birdie two at the short 15th hole.

Ben Jamieson (Golspie Golf Club) finished runner-up on countback after he also accumulated 35 points, with Charles Marshall (Royal Dornoch) taking third on 34 points.

The latest round of the Reay Seniors Stableford was a high-scoring affair, with Alistair Gunn topping the standings on an excellent 41 points which included a birdie at the 16th. Peter Barker finished a point adrift in second place on 40 points, with Malcolm Clasper taking third on 36 points.

A photo finish was required to determine the winner of the ladies' May Medal after no fewer than four players finished tied at the top of the leaderboard having recorded scores of nett 71. In the end it was Pam Bain who claimed the silverware after a fine round of 81 which included birdies at the fifth and 11th holes.

Rebecca Munro took second place on countback after a solid round of 90, with the in-form Alison Ross third. Sarah Meiklejohn was fourth after a steady round of 88.

The gents' Summer Cup competition is now under way, although round one was played in conditions more akin to November than May, with a couple of hail showers keeping players on their toes. Donald Mowat finished top of the leaderboard on countback with an excellent score of 36 points, pipping Joe Wilson who birdied the sixth on the way to his haul of 36.

Michael Smith birdied the eighth and 10th on his way to third place on a score of 31 points.

In the second and final round of the Dunnett Cup, Murdo Macdonald posted a fine round of 86 for nett 68 to top the standings on the day. Euan Munro took second place after a nett 69 courtesy of a fine round of 72 made up of 15 pars and three bogeys.

Michael Smith finished third on countback after a round of 75 for nett 70, ahead of Tom Ross, who managed a hat-trick of birdies at the 14th, 15th and 16th during his round of 72, and James Swan, who carded a round of 78 for his nett 70.

In the overall standings Tim Hawes took the trophy with an excellent aggregate score of 139, after a nett 71 backed up the previous weekend's nett 68.

This weekend sees the club host the ARC Open for gents and the Summer Stableford for ladies on Saturday, and the McVitie and Price Texas Pairs on Sunday.
