Lejog rally crosses the finish line at John O'Groats

CLASSIC cars from all over the world took on one of the toughest endurance driving challenges on the planet as John O’Groats was the finishing line for the LeJog Rally 2017.
A total of 39 cars completed the epic challenge from Land’s End to John O’Groats in an epic four day trek which took competitors 1552 miles around the length of the UK.
But 14 drivers failed to complete the course due to mechanical failure as they battled with the effects of Storm Caroline as well as the winter blast which sent temperatures plummeting in Scotland.
The drivers who did make it were given a traditional’s pipers welcome when they crossed the finish line at John O’Groats on Tuesday.
Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation held the event with spokesman Kevin Howarth saying the signposts gave all the drivers a great welcome.
"The welcome we get at John O’Groats is always superb and appreciated by the drivers," he said.
"It was one of the nicest finishes we’ve ever had as we were treated to bright skies, a nice view of Orkney with a few locals creating a great atmosphere.
"A lot of the competitors shed a tear at the end as the tour as is it not just about the car, it is also about what is inside the car where each of the teams are working together to complete the journey.
