Caithness Krakens will, weather permitting, host Strathmore on Saturday in the National Plate competition.

The Forfar outfit, who finished mid-table in the Caley Midlands Conference, have emerged as the favourites to top the group after victories over Orkney Dragons and Kirkcaldy.

Caithness are aiming to build on their opening 20-17 away win over Edinburgh University.

Krakens coach Mike Flavell expects to have a full-strength 20-strong squad for the match at Millbank, which has a 2pm kick-off.

The persistence of the current freeze-up has, however, put a question mark over whether it will go ahead.

Matches played last weekend saw Strathmore score a 35-5 home win over Kirkcaldy and the Dragons beat the students 61-19 in Edinburgh.
