Kindling's Viking Cup victory in May Day competition

Eight races were held over the two days of Wick Model Yacht Club's annual May Day event. Usually this is a competition against a group of sailors from Kirkwall Model Yacht Club but this year the Orcadians could not attend.
After an enjoyable weekend of sailing, with close racing, the Viking Cup for most points overall went to Saturday's top yacht, Kindling. On Sunday, Aurora accumulated the most points for the two trophies.
Contenders were Aurora, sailed by Archie and Fiona Miller; Kindling, sailed by Kevin and Michael Paterson (Saturday); Pioneer, sailed by Peter Sinclair (Saturday) and John Sutherland and Michael Paterson (Sunday); Restless Wave, sailed by Graham and Adam Robertson; and Skua, sailed by Innes Scollay and David Sutherland.
Results: Saturday – Thrumster Estate Cup, first leg: 1 Kindling; 2 Skua; 3 Restless Wave.
Quatercentenary Cup, first leg: 1 Kindling; 2 Aurora; 3 Restless Wave.
Thrumster Estate Cup, second leg: 1 Restless Wave; 2 Kindling; 3 Aurora; 4 Skua; 5 Pioneer.
Quatercentenary Cup, second leg: 1 Kindling; 2 Pioneer; 3 Aurora; 4 Restless Wave.
Points for day one – Thrumster Estate Cup: Kindling 11, Restless Wave 10, Skua 8, Aurora 4, Pioneer 2.
Quatercentenary Cup: Kindling 12, Aurora 9, Restless Wave 7, Pioneer 5.
