JumpCross makes debut

FOURTEEN-year-old Amy Mcivor, of Lybster, was the junior winner of the first JumpCross competition to be held at Sibster Mains, Wick.
Amy rode her pony Tomini, a 13.2hh bay gelding, to victory in the intro section as well as the 2’9" junior class, achieving the best score of the day after clearing the joker fence with ease.
The 2’9" senior section was won by Emma Coghill, of East Clyth, riding Analong, who recorded the fastest time of the day.
JumpCross is an exciting, challenging new equestrian discipline which aims to provide all riders with a true cross-country experience over fences which knock down.
It combines the excitement of cross-country with the accuracy of showjumping and many find it not as intimidating as tackling solid fences. However, this discipline still requires balance, skill and respect in order to jump clear rounds.
JumpCross is an excellent way of training both horse and rider in the art of cross-country riding, and is suitable for all ages and abilities.
