Jack wins by six-second margin in Golspie Open karting competition

Castletown karting competitor Jack Ryan enjoyed a successful weekend in the Golspie Open, emerging as a clear winner in the Junior Max section.

Jack (15) won all three heats before finishing in first place by 6.2 seconds in the final at the two-day event held in ideal weather. He was able to give his new chassis a good testing.

Jack started in third position in heat one. On the first corner he moved up to second and on lap two he passed the frontrunner, widening the gap on every lap. He had the fastest time of the day at 37.44.

Heat two saw him starting in pole position, and he stayed there to take first place again. Jack began in second position in the third heat, finishing first with a three-second lead.

In the final he started in pole and kept his position throughout the race, winning by 6.2 seconds.

Results: 1 Jack Ryan, North of Scotland Kart Club (NSKC); 2 Craig Stephen, Grampian Kart Club (GKC); 3 Mark Paterson, GKC. Novice winner: Darcy Mackay, NSKC.

The next race is at Crail in the second round of the Scottish Super Series. Jack is in fifth position going into the event this weekend.

The final round is in Golspie at the end of August.

The fifth and sixth rounds of the Caithness Autocross Club season were held at Bilbster Mains recently and Jack was the fastest driver in the junior section on both days in his Yaris.
