Castletown driver Jack Ryan is leading the way in the Junior 1000 Ecosse series ahead of Saturday's third round in Fife.

Jack and his navigator Robin Nicolson are among 14 crews entered for the Summer Junior Stages Rally at Crail airfield.

Last time out, at Kames Motorsport Complex in East Ayrshire in May, Jack and Robin came out on top in the closest battle seen for some time in the annual championship for drivers aged 14-17.

Their Volkswagen Up and the Skoda Citigo of Rian Walker and Stuart McBride were never separated by more than two seconds over the 16 stages. The two crews ended the day tied on time, with Jack and Robin winning on a tie-break thanks to their faster time on stage one.

Rian and Stuart will be hoping for revenge in Rian’s home event. Round one winners Oliver Phillips and Barry Young line up third.

With 58 points, Jack is two points clear of second-placed Oliver in the J1000 drivers' championship after two rounds. Ruan Lowry is third on 50 points.

The championship runs from March to November.
