Caithness Ladies tasted defeat in the SWF Highlands and Islands League for the first time this season when they were beaten 3-1 by Orkney at a wet and windy Back Park in Castletown.

Caithness had begun the campaign with back-to-back wins against Sutherland and Nairn but now find themselves six points behind Buckie, who have maximum points having played one game more. Caithness and Orkney are among four teams on the six-point mark.

Goals by Abi Coltherd and Jessika Brown put the islanders in charge in Sunday’s encounter before Carly Erridge reduced the deficit.

However, any Caithness hopes of taking something from the match were snuffed out when Coltherd added Orkney’s third from the penalty spot.

Hannah Hutson was named as Caithness player of the match. Rona Taylor made her first start for the club.
