WICK ACADEMY 9 - 1 COLDSTREAM

Scorers – Wick: Macadie (27), D. Allan (31), Weir (53 pen, 78, 82), Shearer (61), Cunningham (64, 68, 76). Coldstream: M. Allan (37).

WICK Academy started their Scottish Cup run with a blistering victory over Borders outfit Coldstream FC at the weekend.

Scorries manager Davie Kirkwood is delighted with his squad’s performance after they put nine past the visitors – hammering home their ambition to progress to the next round.

Conditions were perfect at Harmsworth Park on Saturday and home fans did not have to wait long to start cheering. However, the early “goal” from Wick’s David Allan in the fourth minute was ruled offside.

Undeterred, Richard Macadie took the initiative to put Academy ahead.

After progress up the wing Gary Weir ran out of space at the far post but managed to nip the ball across the goalmouth for Macadie to tap home just 27 minutes in.

David Allan stayed onside four minutes later when a quick turn in the box let him bang home the second.

But Streamers striker Michael Allan claimed one back for the visitors six minutes later when he fired a long shot from the sidelines.

It soared over the Academy defence and into the top corner of the net.

Eight minutes into the second half David Allan was put down in the box by Coldstream’s keeper and the resulting penalty was confidently put away by Weir.

Wick’s Craig Shearer ended up on the receiving end of a pass in front of the goal just a minute after the hour mark.

The midfielder had no problems twisting 90 degrees to fire the ball into the back of the net.

Shortly after, another penalty taken by Weir ended up wide of the mark as Coldstream keeper Mark Walters got his fingertips to the ball.

Stevie Cunningham was next up to score as he went on a 12-minute rampage on the park with a hat-trick.

He put three past Walters in succession between the 64th and 76th minute.
