Jayden Bremner hit a hat-trick as Wick Academy maintained their 100 per cent record in SHFL Under 18 North with a comfortable 4-0 away victory over Rothes.

A tight pitch made it difficult for the young Scorries to get into their usual passing game and half-chances were squandered at both ends.

On 40 minutes Bremner latched onto a loose ball at the edge of the box and fired Wick into a half-time lead.

They started the second period with much more purpose. In the 63rd minute a through ball found Bremner and he smashed it home, and he completed his treble five minutes later with a fine finish from close range.

Louis Hancock sealed the win in the 89th minute after good build-up play.

Coach Derek Shearer said: “It’s never easy trying to play football on such a small pitch. The boys took a bit of time to adapt, but once they did they dominated the game.

“It was a great hat-trick by Jayden – he’s looking very sharp. Hopefully we’ll get a run of games now in what has so far been a very stop-start season for several reasons.”
