MANAGER Ewan McElroy says Halkirk United will be massive underdogs against North Caledonian League champions Loch Ness at Morrison Park tomorrow.

But he says they are looking forward to the challenge and aiming to preserve their winning start to the season.

The Anglers are in second place in the league with two wins out of two, which included hammering St Duthus 5-0 last week.

McElroy is looking forward to testing themselves against the champions in Halkirk.

“Our primary focus is an improvement on last year’s eighth place and overall performances in general,” he said.

“The league looks stronger than ever and every game brings it’s own challenge.

“Saturday will be a hugely challenging task, we know we are going in as massive underdogs but it’s a fixture we are all looking forward to.

“Loch Ness are deservedly reigning champions, remain unbeaten in the North Caley and are scoring goals at will.”

Colin Henstridge and Sean Munro remain unavailable for Saturday, but Aidan Reid and Ben Sinclair could return to action.

In the 5-0 win over St Duthus, Jonah Martens scored a hat trick with Mark Munro and Liam Bain also finding the net.

McElroy is pleased with Martens’ ruthlessness but says everyone has played their part to a successful start.

“Jonah is a great lad and I am delighted he got his hat-trick on Saturday. But it was a real squad effort and at this level that’s what it needs to be.

“You can’t afford to have passengers and it’s something on the whole we are aiming to improve on.

Thurso, who were thrashed 6-0 in Orkney, last weekend are not in action tomorrow.
