WICK Academy have announced they have signed striker Craig Gunn from Brora Rangers on a permanent deal.

The deal was confirmed by the club this morning and the former Elgin City striker could be set to make his debut against Nairn County this afternoon.

Academy tried to sign Gunn during the Summer when he opted to join Brora after a number of teams were after his signature.

Wick Academy manager Tom McKenna said he is pleased Gunn has decided to join the Scorries where he said will make a big impact.

"I am really delighted that Craig has agreed to join us.

"He is a player of real pedigree, with pace and bags of experience.

"He is going to give us some real quality up front and I am sure he's going to be very successful in his time back here."

"We are all buzzing to have him back and can't wait to see him in action again at Harmsworth Park."

Academy Chairman James Innes said: "We're obviously very pleased that Craig has signed for the Club and it is just the Christmas present the fans deserve. We offered Craig a good deal in the summer and missed out on him, but the Club has moved on from then and I had a feeling he might be back to our boardroom table."

Gunn started with Academy in Wick Academy in 2003-04 when he made 31 competitive appearances scoring 25 goals.

He left Wick after a single season for Ross County before having a year on loan at Peterhead, signing for Elgin City in 2009 and in his eight years there became their top scorer with over 100 goals.

Craig finished his time at Elgin in May 2017 and signed for Brora last summer.
