Groats lead the way at the halfway stage of the Caithness 7s League, moving two points clear after their 6-3 win against Halkirk this week.

The top two from last season played out a tough battle with Green Road’s pressure telling in the end as they defeated RB Leipster 5-2.

The two newest members to the league played out a fascinating match which could have gone either way, but Liam Bremner made the difference for Bignold Loyals and not for the first time as they overcame Barberlona.

Young Spurs and Colts have a fierce sporting rivalry and their game was close-fought as well. It was tied at the break, but a Jordan Macgregor thunderbolt free kick helped Colts to victory.

The league now takes a break and will resume on January 11.
