Lybster Bowling Green opened last Sunday for the 2019 season in glorious weather. Visitors came from Brora, Golspie, Rosebank, St Fergus and Thurso to join the local members for the opening day.

A helter-skelter match of 12 ends was held after the first jack had been thrown by greenkeeper John Grant and the official opening had been declared by president Fran Manners.

As is customary on the opening day, a prize is awarded for the first toucher of the season. This year it was Lybster's George Sutherland who was first to strike and went home with an Easter egg.

Lybster Bowling Club is always looking for new members and anyone is welcome to look in and give outdoor bowls a go. Coaching is available for newcomers to the game. Tuesdays and Fridays (7pm) are the main club nights.
