The Royal British Legion in Thurso was the venue for Forss Bowling Club's Open Triples Competition – its first since before the pandemic.

After three years without any bowling competitions in the county, the 28 teams entered were delighted to be back playing and meeting up with fellow bowlers.

The competition was sponsored by Ian Maclean.

The first jack of the day was thrown at 9am and teams enjoyed an excellent day of bowling.

The Weigh Inn team of Susan McCulloch, Robert Bell and Leah Taylor won a close semi-final against the Strathy trio of Kathryn Mackay, Donnie Mackay and John Bingham.

Weigh Inn skip Leah drew the winning shot with the last bowl of the game as they progressed to the final.

The Royal British Legion triple of Jessie Elder, Calum Elder and Kenny Macleod were up against the Scrabster team of Ian Mackay, Ross Cowan and Scott Christie in the other semi.

With the teams level on six shots after eight ends, Scrabster scored five shots on the ninth end to win through.

The final was another close encounter with Scrabster pulling clear to win the shield they had won the last time the competition was played in 2019.
