Five shooters hit maximum scores in final round of 2022/23 Caithness rifle season

The 15th and final round of the Caithness Small Bore Rifle Association winter leagues for 2022/23 had five shooters with the maximum score of 100 – D Bremner, J Henderson (both Watten) and L Thomson (Huntly) in Division One, S Nicolson (Wick Old Stagers) in Division Two and Lairg's M Peat in Division Four.

Wick Old Stagers "A" were the Division One champions, finishing three points ahead of Huntly "A".

Watten "B" ended up five points clear in Division Two, with Halkirk "B" as runners-up.

Dingwall secured the Division Three title, one point clear of Dallas, while Huntly "B" likewise finished a single point ahead of runners-up Lairg in Division Four.

Watten "C" had a 100 per cent record in Division Five, with Wick Old Stagers "C" in second place eight points behind.

R Levack won Junior individual league Division One, ahead of runner-up J Taylor.

L Taylor was top of junior Division Two, with J Bremner second.

Results (shots dropped) – Division One: Watten "A" 3 beat Huntly "A" 7. Individual scores – Watten: J Henderson 0, D Bremner 0, D Wilson 1, S Henderson 2. Huntly: L Thomson 0, G Habiby 1, S Sharp 3, W Copland 3.

The bogey (8) beat Wick Old Stagers "A” 10. Individual scores – Wick Old Stagers: B Young 1, D Simpson 1, H Simpson 4, A Paul 4.

Halkirk "A" 11 beat Pentland “A” 12. Individual scores – Halkirk: J Campbell 1, R Campbell 2, J Fraser 4, W Campbell 4. Pentland: R Brown 1, G Begg 3, D Mowat 3, P Richard 5.

Top score in Division One for round 15 was 100 shot by D Bremner, J Henderson (both Watten) and L Thomson (Huntly).

Division Two: Watten “B” 13 beat Wick Old Stagers "B” 16. Individual scores – Watten: N Brims 1, G Mackay 3, G Bremner 4, B E Mackay 5. Old Stagers: S Nicolson 0, G Sutherland 1, S S Nicolson 2, C Ronaldson 13.

Stirkoke "A" 14 beat the bogey (17). Individual scores – Stirkoke: I Sutherland 1, R Innes 2, G Robertson 5, G Cameron 6.

Halkirk "B" 16 beat Westfield “A” 19. Individual scores – Halkirk: R Levack 3, G G Levack 3, S Blackwood 5, S Yuille 5. Westfield: L Macdonald 2, M Mackay 3, G A Mackay 5, J Manson 9.

Top score in Division Two for round 15 was 100 shot by S Nicolson (Wick Old Stagers).

Division Three: Dallas 14 beat the bogey (23). Individual scores – Dallas: G Sutherland 3, K Sutherland 3, J Anderson 4, N Sutherland 4.

Keiss 17 beat Stirkoke "B" 23. Individual scores – Keiss: B Cormack 1, A Johnson 2, W Mackay 6, J Harrold 8. Stirkoke: J M Sutherland 3, R Mackay 4, G Henderson 7, D G Henderson 9.

Dingwall 23 beat Pentland “B” 32. Individual scores – Dingwall: R C Meiklejohn 3, R H Meiklejohn 3, B Mackintosh 3, H Meiklejohn 14. Pentland: J Coghill 2, A Cowe 6, P Gates 9, W D Mowat 15.

Top score in Division Three for round 15 was 99 shot by B Cormack (Keiss).

Division Four: Lairg 15 beat Huntly “B” 18. Individual scores – Lairg: M Peat 0, I Mackay 4, A Murray 5, D Macleod 6. Huntly: R Murray 3, A Scott 3, D Innes 3, L G Thomson 9.

Clachnacuddin 24 beat Westfield “B” 38. Individual scores – Clachnacuddin: A Smith 4, W D Allan 4, W H MacDonald 7, N MacDonald 9. Westfield: M Mackenzie 4, J Taylor 8, C Mowat 11, A Jappy 15.

Halkirk “C” 25 beat Stirkoke "C" 40. Individual scores – Halkirk: T Hawes 4, S Campbell 7, C Gunn 7, R Sutherland 7. Stirkoke: A Webster 6, J Cameron 7, G Hendry 10, I Gunn 17.

Top score in Division Four for round 15 was 100 shot by M Peat (Lairg).

Division Five: Watten "C" 24 beat Nairn 39. Individual scores – Watten: D Thomson 3, L Bremner 5, M Macaulay 8, D Thomson Jnr 8. Nairn: D Smith 6, M Cattich 7, S Murray 8, L Andrew 18.

Wick Old Stagers "C" 37 beat the bogey (63). Individual scores – Wick Old Stagers: A Harper 4, G Sutherland 7, N Hodgson 12, A Tait 14.

Stirkoke “D” 226 beat Pentland “C” 400. Individual scores – Stirkoke: D Henderson 11, B Foubister 15, 2 x NCR. Pentland: 4 x NCR.

Top score in Division Five for round 15 was 97 shot by D Thomson (Watten).

Junior individual league Division One: I Simpson (Wick Old Stagers) 5 drew with S Campbell (Halkirk) 5; J Taylor (Westfield) 6 beat R Sutherland (Halkirk) 12; R Levack (Halkirk) 7 beat the bogey (10).

Top score in the junior league Division One for round 10 was 95 shot by I Simpson and S Campbell.

Junior individual league Division Two: J Bremner (Halkirk) 13 beat L Taylor (Westfield) 15; G Campbell (Halkirk) 13 beat C Ross (Westfield) 23; C Mackay (Westfield) 20 beat C Campbell (Halkirk) 100.

Top score in the junior league Division Two for round 10 was 87 shot by J Bremner and G Campbell.
