Five medals for Caithness Tang Soo Do students at Highland championships
Four Caithness students of Tang Soo Do took home a haul of five medals from the Highland championships of the Korean martial art.
Eoghan Speirs (red tag), Kerry Speirs (red belt), Robyn Speirs (brown tag) and Mia MacGregor (green tag), all students of Halkirk-based Caithness Tang Soo Do, took to the mats at the competition in Inverness on Saturday.
They pitted their skills against competitors from across Scotland in various disciplines including sparring, empty hand forms and weapon forms – and, in doing so, brought three gold and two bronze medals back to Caithness.
Eoghan came away with a gold for sparring and a bronze for his nunchuck form, Kerry won a gold for her empty hand form and a bronze for her bo-staff form, and Robyn took a gold for her bo-staff form.
Club instructor Stephen Mezals said: "I am delighted that Eoghan, Kerry, Robyn and Mia put themselves out there and represented the club at this competition.

"They have all worked hard preparing themselves and it's great to see that all this hard work and dedication has paid off for them.
"They all showed great Tang Soo spirit against some tough competition. They should be extremely proud of how they performed, because I certainly am."
Caithness Tang Soo Do trains weekly on a Monday evening at the Ross Institute in Halkirk. More information can be found on Facebook under Caithness Tang Soo Do.
