In the singles championship, Evan Sutherland narrowly beat Robbie Mackay to win the trophy for the second year running.

The Pentland View Cup was won by Donella Mackay and Murdo Macdonald who saw off a strong challenge from Evan Sutherland and David Mackay.

The league’s ladies pairs competition attracted 16 entries from four clubs. Pairs first played through a round-robin stage from which the winner and runner-up in each group went through to the semi-final.

In the final, Aileen Rose and Patsy Sutherland edged ahead of Cheryl Hadfield and Joan Campbell to take the trophy.

The silverware was presented by match secretary John Bingham.

Through the generosity of all participants, the event raised £100 for the Thurso branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
