After a period of enforced absence due to inclement weather, golfers at Reay were back in action at the weekend with both the ladies and gents competing over the course.

Countback was required to determine the winner in round five of the gents’ Winter Eclectic after Andy Bain and John O’Brien posted matching scores of 76 for nett 70.

In the final analysis it was club captain Bain who got the nod, with birdies at the second and sixth also boosting his overall eclectic score. O’Brien also managed a birdie, with his coming at the short ninth hole.

Steve Efemey birdied the 17th on his way to a round of 80 for nett 71 and third place on countback ahead of Pete McCartney and David Mackay who also posted rounds of nett 71.

With one round of the eclectic still to go, Efemey, Bain and Lee Parnell are tied at the top of the leaderboard on a score of 62, with Efemey having the edge on countback. Wayne Mowat sits two shots behind the leaders on 64, with Gavin Gunn and John O’Brien also still in the hunt on 66.
